Athletic Director

Freedom Christian Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of our next athletic director and varsity boys basketball coach, Mr. Brandon Clifford.

Clifford, a native of Greensboro, NC, earned his undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University and completed his master’s degree at Western Kentucky University. He was an accomplished and well-regarded basketball player and 2000 graduate at Walter Hines Page High School. He continued his academic and playing career at the collegiate level, playing for UNC-Wilmington and Bellarmine University.

Clifford has an extensive coaching background at a variety of levels from being a student assistant at the University of Louisville to spending a year with the Dallas Mavericks in player development. He has served as the program head for two high schools, leading the programs at High Point Christian (High Point, NC) and Grace Christian (Knoxville, TN) for a total of 9 seasons. He has amassed a combined record of 206-85 to go along with one state championship (2018), one state runner-up, 6 final-four appearances and having made the playoffs in each of his 9 seasons, along with a number of other accolades and accomplishments.

Clifford describes his philosophy as “a culture of work,” and sees his calling in life to prepare young people for all of life’s challenges. As such, he has a proven track record of player development, seeing 26 of his former players go on to compete in college basketball, including 16 at D-I programs. Four of these players went on to play professionally overseas and one is currently in the NBA.

As a teacher and administrator, Clifford spent 7 years developing, implementing and teaching an ASCI physical education curriculum. Most recently he has served as Dean of Students, where he invested in struggling students and assisted fellow teachers doing the same.

Clifford is a committed, born-again Christian, married to his wife, Christina. Together they have three children: Elissa (8,) McCarty (6,) and Isabella (2.)
